A minimalist yet expressive architectural renovation that transforms an ordinary Las Vegas building into a vibrant Polynesian-inspired bar. The design blends traditional Tiki aesthetics with contemporary forms, creating an atmosphere that feels both exotic and inviting.
The Grand Tiki Bar is a complete transformation of a plain, single-story administrative building located in Las Vegas. The goal was to turn an unremarkable structure into a vibrant and atmospheric venue inspired by traditional Polynesian architecture.

The concept draws from the classic Tiki culture that emerged in mid-20th-century America, when returning soldiers longed for the relaxed island spirit of the Pacific. The project reinterprets this nostalgic style in a modern way, combining minimalistic, eye-catching architectural design with distinct Polynesian touches.
The new facade embodies the essence of Polynesian architecture through expressive geometric forms and natural textures.
Artificial bamboo elements, thatched roof imitations, and signature A-framed and steep-gabled roofs define the visual character of the building.
A large, ornate A-shaped arch marks the main entrance, referencing traditional Tiki roofing and emphasizing the "Grand" in the bar’s name. Along the avenue side, the building is topped with sculptural Tiki heads — an instantly recognizable symbol that draws attention from passing traffic.

The renovation introduced a completely new facade system, implemented in several stages:
1. Retaining the existing facade siding
2. Installation of vertical columns
3. Addition of a wooden canopy structure
4. Construction of the entrance feature
5. Landscaping of the surrounding area
This approach created depth, rhythm, and a cohesive architectural identity while maintaining construction efficiency.

The lighting system highlights the building’s architecture and atmosphere. Perimeter and upper facade lights emphasize its shape, while accent lighting on the entrance and sculptures draws focus to key details. Projected Tiki patterns on the walls and roof complete the immersive island vibe.

Accent Entryway Group — the focal point of the design, clearly visible from the main road and inspired by Polynesian cultural motifs.
Bamboo Facade — a nod to traditional Tiki architecture, evoking the warmth and texture of natural materials.
Main Columns — serve as both structural and decorative elements, reinforcing the building’s character and vertical rhythm.

Inside, the space continues the immersive island theme. The atmosphere is created through custom-made elements designed specifically for this project. Without windows to the outside, the interior allows visitors to lose track of time and place, fully immersing them in the exotic mood of a tropical bar.

The bar features an island configuration that encourages communication and openness. A cascading bar header creates a dynamic ceiling accent, complemented by translucent backlit fabric that adds a soft glow. Wicker weaving details bring warmth and texture, while a dark wooden slab completes the composition with a sense of depth and solidity.

The restaurant combines natural materials and subdued tones to create a cozy atmosphere. Wickerwork panels and a dark wood desktop add texture and contrast to the space. Dark plaster covers the walls and ceiling, setting a calm background for the expressive tiki patterns. The stone floor anchors the interior with a natural, grounded feel.

The lounge continues the tactile and moody character of the restaurant. Wickerwork panels and dark wooden surfaces are paired with soft plaster walls and ceiling. Wicker plant shelves add a relaxed, tropical touch, while tiki patterns and a stone floor complete the tranquil, island-inspired setting.

The private room offers an intimate and atmospheric retreat. Wooden idols introduce cultural depth, while dark wood and floral wallpaper create a rich visual contrast. The dark plaster ceiling and subtle tiki patterns reinforce the immersive, exotic mood of the interior.

The entrance sets the tone for the entire experience. Wooden idols and wicker weaving evoke traditional craftsmanship, while a patinated mirror adds depth and reflection. Bamboo walls and dark plaster surfaces create a dramatic backdrop, enhanced by iconic tiki patterns that immediately immerse visitors in the theme.

The Grand Tiki Bar is a striking example of how architectural transformation can completely redefine a space. Through the use of simple yet expressive design techniques and recognizable cultural references, the project turned a forgotten building into a destination, a place that feels both transportive and unmistakably Las Vegas.
