A Balance Between Character and Versatility

This house became a particularly representative example of how we approach the balance between the interests of a developer, the character of a specific site, and the expectations of its future owner.

At the heart of the project is an attempt to define the design language of the potential buyer. The architecture needs to have a distinctive identity, while remaining versatile enough to appeal to different lifestyles and stay within the realities of an investment budget. This balance shapes both the appearance of the house and its internal organization.

The expressive geometry of the building, with its angled walls, becomes the project’s defining architectural gesture. To emphasize this geometry, we deliberately limited the material palette to two primary finishes. White fibre-cement panels create a clean, graphic surface and draw attention to the building’s complex form.

At the same time, we wanted to avoid making the house feel overly futuristic or detached. Timber slats were therefore introduced across the ground floor, including the garage doors and selected facade elements. The warm texture of wood softens the strict geometry and gives the architecture a more welcoming and versatile character.

This approach allows the house to respond to very different lifestyles. Its distinctive architecture can appeal to a young couple looking for individuality and a contemporary sense of character, while the warm materials and comfortable spatial organization make it equally suitable for those who value coziness and a quieter domestic atmosphere.

The layout follows the same principle of versatility. A guest bedroom is located on the ground floor and can easily be converted into a home office when needed. The upper floor accommodates three bedrooms, creating a clear separation between shared and private areas.

Despite the limited size of the site, we were able to fit a complete family program without compromising on comfort. The result is a house where expressive architecture is combined with an efficient layout and a realistic approach to construction costs.

This is the balance we were looking for: a house with a strong identity without becoming overly specific; contemporary architecture that still feels warm and approachable; and an individual architectural product that retains the versatility required for the development market.
